As a sport with a vast array of event disciplines, athletics requires many dedicated helpers and officials to run the program effectively. Some of the helping roles at the club level include:
- Starters
- Timekeepers
- Recorders
- Field event helpers to measure / retrieve
- Automatic Timer operators (sprint and hurdles track)
At Zone, Region and State, the club is required to provide trained Event Officials for certain events, in order to run the carnivals. These trained officials may also provide advice and expertise to athletes and parents on Saturday club days, with a view to enhance athletes techniques. It is therefore very important that the club maintains officials with a wide array of event expertise.
We are always looking for enthusiastic parents or ex-athletes who would like to further their knowledge in particular events and the club will provide mentorship during this process. Little Athletics NSW offers online courses and information for each event discipline, which are highly recommended. If you have a passion for athletics and would like to become an event official, please contact the cub and we would be happy to guide you through this process.
